FENISCOWLES hopes of success in a football tournament that attracted teams from across the world failed -- after being knocked out by a team from Blackpool!
Fenny went into the Umbro Cup in Manchester with high hopes after reaching the semi final stages last year.
However after successful making it through the difficult group matches, the Blackburn team were knocked out by Blackpool Mechanics after a penalty shoot-out.
Mechanics went on to win the tournament that featured 400 teams from 25 different nations.
In the group stages, they kicked off with a 2-0 win against Krama Grammar from USA with goals from Anthony Pickup and find of the tournament, Barisie of Gambia.
Feniscowles lost against Maine Road 2-0, drew 0-0 with Aud Grammar of Nigeria before getting back to their winning ways with a 1-0 win against International Soccer 'A' from USA where Barisie was again on the scoresheet.
A 1-0 defeat against Daten Sports followed but Feniscowles booked their quarter final place with a 5-1 win against Macclesfield FC with two goals from Matt Fox, Mitch Pickup, Chris Young and Barisie again.
