FANS and well-wishers of Sir Norman Wisdom were in for a treat when he dropped in at Slattery's Patisserie in Whitefield.
The comedy great was a hit with the crowds on Saturday (July 29) as he performed his popular routine and clumsily tripped up over the threshold of the cake shop on Bury New Road. He spent almost an hour greeting people and signing autographs as part of a fund-raising tour of the region.
Accompanied by representatives of the bone marrow unit appeal at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital, Sir Norman enjoyed a breakfast treat of coffee and Danish.
Owner of the patisserie, John Slattery (pictured with Norman), said: "He was a lovely guy. Quite a crowd had formed outside and he spent a lot of time posing for photographs."
Sir Norman was also given a memento: a chocolate lollipop bearing the name of the famous film character Mr Grimsdale.
