WITH regards to the article in the Star (July 13) about Clock Face Road, it is typical of this council to come up with the same old cry: "There's no money left."
Councillor Hargreaves says they are looking at ways to reduce accidents. Well, there is one way, erect a pelican crossing. But "no money" is the cry from the council.
What about all the money spent on the pedestrianisation of the centre of St Helens outside the council offices? Also, the cost of moving the statue of Queen Victoria and having it restored?
That was just a waste of money which would have been better spent on erecting more crossings where they are needed. It's time the council got its priorities right.
Mr W. Smith, Belvedere Road, Newton-le-Willows.
