HSBC Bank is seeking to reward UK small firms which make a valuable contribution to the economy, both in terms of wealth and employment.
With the backing of the Small Business Bureau and BBC for Business, the HSBC Small Business of the Year competition is now looking for entries.
Eligible to enter are UK small business-sole traders, partnerships or limited companies which have an annual turnover of £5 million or less. The award, now in its fourth year, is to present two major cash prizes.
The overall winner will receive the title of HSBC Small Business of the Year, as well as £5,000 and a specially-commissioned trophy.
A new award for 2000 is the HSBC Community Award which will present a £5,000 cash prize to a business that can show how its efforts have directly benefited the local community, its economy and environment.
In addition, the BBC Business training Award is to be presented to an organisation that can demonstrate a significant use of training of staff in the development of its business. To enter the competition, companies must provide a written submission of 1,000 words telling the panel of judges about their success.
Entry forms are available from the organiser, John Burley public relations consultants, telephone 01629 825777, or the Small Business Bureau on 01276 452010.
