BURNLEY are heading for an opening day sell-out at Bolton Wanderers after a ticket frenzy at the Turf Moor box office today.
The Clarets have been allocated 5,225 tickets for their First Division curtain-raiser at the Reebok Stadium a week tomorrow with the upper tier of the south stand opening for the first time.
And when they went on sale this morning, season-ticket holders were queueing the length of Brunshaw Road to make sure they will see Burnley's first game back in Division One for five years.
With the club having sold over 11,000 season passes, Reebok tickets were like gold dust and a full away end is guaranteed.
"We did anticipate a big demand but I was amazed when I saw how far people were queueing.
"But we have got plenty of staff on, all the terminals are in operation and we are staying open until 7pm tonight so we are geared up for it," said club secretary Cathy Pickup.
Supporters were in place at seven o'clock this morning as the anticipation surrounding Burnley's First Division return begins to hit fever pitch.
"It's wonderful. We were even selling season-tickets yesterday as well. It's crazy but it's nice crazy," Pickup added.
