ANYONE for tea and cakes? The Blackpool Abbeyfield Society residential home celebrated the millennium recently by holding an afternoon tea party for their residents, volunteer workers and friends at the Edenfield Country Hotel, Clifton Drive, Lytham.
The society offers a home to elderly people who find it hard living alone but don't require the full care that is offered by nursing homes.
Chairman of the society, Alan Cunliffe, welcomed all the guests including the Deputy Mayor of Blackpool, Councillor Bill Burgess and Deputy Mayoress, Mrs Betty Hammond. The chairman also introduced Little Mo of the Roly Polys who performed the opening ceremony.
Mo, pictured here with Alan, said: "I am delighted to be here and judging by the smiling faces of the residents, Abbeyfield was obviously a happy place to spend your later life."
Mo and the Deputy Mayoress were also presented with flowers by two of the oldest residents.
