MORECAMBE granny Pauline Butler set herself a special challenge when she had a serious throat operation this year.
Although she could talk, she was instructed not to by doctors -- and she used her quiet time to raise cash for the hospital ward which saved the life of her little grandson Ben.
Pauline said: "I can honestly say it was the hardest thing I've ever done. What's more, I'm dyslexic, so people struggled to understand my writing."
Pauline was sponsored by friends an d family and raised £305 to help make life better for children at the neo-natal surgery unit at St Mary's Hospital, Manchester.
Ben had two life saving operations at the unit in the first two weeks of his life, the first when he was just a day old, after being diagnosed with TOF's syndrome, which left him unable to swallow.
