BURY Caeser team visited Bowden where St Mary's had assembled a very strong team.
In the doubles Tony Phillips and Colleen Forkin were defeated, but captain Len Forkin with Richard Harvey held together for a narrow victory, so that honours were even at lunch.
The afternoon singles were less successful, Tony Richard and Colleen had all lost when Len's games went into extra time.
However, his opponent secured the 'golden hoop' so the home team had won by five games to one.
During the week, several members of the club had played in the Pendle 50+ Tournament at Nelson.
Geoff and Barbara Young failed in their attempt to defend the doubles trophy, being convincingly beaten in the final by club-mates Ken and Margaret Anderton.
In the singles event Margaret won the high-handicap trophy.
