TEENAGERS in Edgworth and Belmont have just completed a week of exciting events planned by young people for young people.
Almost 200 youths aged between 12 and 17 years took part in a variety of challenging activities.
They tried their hand at circus skills, problem solving exercises, and paint balling.
And there was also a visit from the Army Youth Team.
They received certificates of achievement earned during the week, presented during a special disco.
Judith Murray, a youth worker with Blackburn with Darwen Borough Youth Service with responsibility for Edgworth and Belmont, has involved local hard-working local youngsters in planning the project during recent months.
Lancashire Youth Clubs Association, who support youth work in East Lancashire were so impressed by the enthusiasm of the young people that they gave them a £300 grant to run the project.
Judith said: "We live in an area where transport is a real problem and feel that the youngsters valued our efforts to lay on a special bus.
"We'd also like to thank the youth clubs association for their kind donation. It helped a great deal."
It is hoped that the success of the event will lead to similar projects in the future.
