JUNIOR racing cyclist Edmund Leary enjoyed a good weekend in his build up to the National Junior Road Race Championships.
Competing in the Shadsworth event just outside Blackburn, the Provision Power Bar rider finished third in his first event (riding against seniors) with the current leader in the national junior series James Bell of Carlisle in arrears.
In the second race, Bell went on a solo breakaway to gain revenge, with Edmund trying to cut his lead as the bell approached.
A powerful burst in the straight saw the Rainford teenager power his way to second spot.
In the final event of the season at Oulton Park, St Helens racer Andy Tinsley (Paul Moy team) won the bunch sprint but came away with only third prize.
However, many riders confirmed that Andy was the moral victor as the two riders away throughout the race had been given an unrealistic handicap mark.
Andy has been racing in Holland this week.
