A DRUG support help group aimed at families of drug users has been set up at Newton Family and Community Centre.
The Footsteps group is run completely by four volunteers who have all had their own experiences of family members suffering from drug addiction.
As a result, they are able to offer practical advice and information on drugs as well as a caring and supportive ear for people who are looking for some help in dealing with their loved ones' problems. There is also a 24 hour helpline which connects callers through to the national organisation, Parents Against Drug Abuse (PADA) who pass on details to Footsteps. The group is open at the centre in Park Road South on Mondays from 9am to 1pm and Fridays from 6.30pm to 8.30pm and anyone can attend. Alternatively, contact the 24 hour helpline on 0345 023867.
