THE Eagle and Child in Billinge will be holding a family fun day this Saturday to raise money for the Meningitis Trust.
Licensee Phil Round decided to hold the fundraiser day after his four-month-old niece Megan Blackburn of Westhoughton contracted meningitis three weeks ago.
Megan was seriously ill and was in Bolton Royal Hospital for a week, a very anxious time for the whole family. Thankfully Megan made a marvellous recovery and is now back home.
So on Saturday the pub in Main Street will be holding a whole host of events including a sponsored headshave, an all-day barbecue, a marathon pool competition and a 12- hour bowling competition.
There will be a trampoline for the kids and at 5pm a clown will be providing family entertainment.
On the same day the pub will be holding a sponsored car wash on the front to raise money for the Abu Garcia Wigan fishing club, which is based at the Eagle and Child.
