CARL Fogarty believes former team-mate Neil Hodgson can follow in his footsteps and claim the World Superbike title next season.
The 26-year-old Burnley rider underlined his potential with his second wild card win on home soil, in front of more than 100,000 fans at Brands Hatch.
The British championship leader, allowed onto the world stage for the British rounds of the world championship, comfortably won the second race and was second in the first to confirm the form he showed when winning at Donington in May.
And reigning world champion Foggy believes Hodgson has turned the corner in his career. He said: "Of the guys who could win it next season, Neil is a possibility.
"I had him down to win both races and I think he can go even faster.
"He's more experienced and very confident with his team. He will be very strong in World Superbikes.
"His win reminded me of a race in 1995 when I totally dominated."
Fogarty rode four demonstration laps to test his injured shoulder and the very fact that he is tipping another rider for next year's title could provide clues as to plans for his own future in the sport.
