A MOTHER who insists her son will not go to the secondary school chosen for him by Lancashire County Council has won the right to appeal against the decision for a second time.
Joanne Swinby, of Albert Street, Rishton, contacted the Local Government Ombudsman after an independent review panel, called to listen to her appeal, backed County Hall's decision to send her son Aaron Grimshaw (pictured), 11, to Moorhead High School, Accrington, instead of Norden High School.
Norden is just five minutes walk away from Aaron's house and Joanne claims her son has been 'wrecked' by the thought of being the only boy in his class at Rishton Methodist School not to go to Norden.
After reviewing the case, the Local Government Ombudsman this week ruled that another appeal should take place to decide which school Aaron should attend.
Joanne said: "I am pleased we will be able to appeal again. I hope they listen to me this time. If they still say he has to go to Moorhead, then I shall teach him from home. Simple as that.
"My son shouldn't have to be separated from his friends and have to travel to a school four miles away when Norden is only around the corner."
A spokesman for Lancashire County Council said: "This authority always tries to provide helpful and factual advice to assist the parents with school admission and we will be responsive to the Ombudsman's comments.
"We hope Aaron and his mother will be satisfied with the outcome of this case."
