RIBBLESDALE Wanderers stretched their lead to 13 points at the top of the Jennings Ribblesdale League after a superb weekend.

Wanderers won both their matches while rivals Cherry Tree slumped to two defeats.

On Saturday Wanderers captured a comfortable four wicket win over Barnoldswick, while Cherry Tree went down to Edenfield. Jamie Kelly scored 55 for the Rossendale side with Nigel Robbins taken 5-36. Edenfield pro Steve Kirby hit back with seven wickets for just 30 runs as Cherry Tree were shot out for 101.

Earby professional Jonathan Harvey sparked into action with one of the biggest hitting innings of the year, scoring 177 not out as Earby raced to 258-2 against Settle.

Ian Clarkson chipped in with 61 before the Dales side's professional Surendra Bhave scored 83 not out.

Bottom club Oswaldtwistle Immanuel rescued their innings from 17-5 to 169-9 which was enough to beat Padiham.

Read captain Nick Marsh scored 89 as his side Clitheroe a target of 209-6 and professional Peter Sleep kept up the pressure taking five wickets as the Ribble Valley side were dismissed for 75.

Simon Gorton took six wickets as Blackburn Northern were dismissed for 111 and Whalley went on to secure a four wicket win with Graham Knowles scoring 47.

On Sunday Ribblesdale kept up their charge at the top with pro Shahid Nawaz 113 not out. Clitheroe professional Dexter Fitton had earlier scored 69 not out, but Wanderers secured a nine wicket win.

Blackburn Northern professional Ata-ur-Rehman rattled up 108 and then collected seven wickets as Cherry Tree were shot out for 141 with professional Naeem Ashraf on 78.

Barnoldswick scored 210-1 in their local derby with Earby, Ian Scothern leading the way on 80 not out with professional Mark Temple 78.

Earby professional Jonathan Harvey continued his big hitting form with 99 and was supported by Stephen Pickles on 51 as they secured an eight wicket win.

Gerard Metcalfe scored 95 as Oswaldtwistle Immanuel reached 181-8 after Great Harwood had set them a target of 218-3 with professional Mark Harvey 113 not out. Padiham scored 206-6 thanks to Pankaj Tripathi 52. Peter Sleep scored 69 for Read as they clung on with nine wickets down.

Edenfield took maximum points thanks to Stephen Kirby's six wicket haul as Baxenden were dismissed for 144 with professional Ronnie Davies 52. Michael Hawke scored 53 for the home side.

A weakened Settle side were dismissed for just 68 and Whalley captured a comfortable eight wicket win.
