A SPECTACULAR event will be held in one of Blackburn's parks for the third successive weekend.

Following the success of the Arts in the Park Extravaganza, in Corporation Park, and Blackburn Lions' Gala in Witton Country Park, the Sealed Knot Society is staging a "Battle of Blackburn" in Witton Park on Saturday and Sunday, August 12 and 13. Battlefield activities start from 10am with the main battle at 2pm.

Other activities will include more than 40 craft stalls, children's fairground rides, licensed bar and refreshment stalls.

There is also a Living History section where visitors can step back in time to see what life was like in the seventeenth century,

The event has been organised in association with Blackburn with Darwen Council as part of Festival 2000.
