PAULINE Vaughan's comments regarding the proposed closure of Church Street, Blackburn, were her private views because she is in a minority against the general view of Blackburn Chamber of Trade, Darwen Street Traders, Blackburn Market Tenants' Association and others.
Also, the Chapter of Blackburn Cathedral suggested that total closure of Church Street would not be in Blackburn's best interests (Letters, July 10).
Therefore Richard Prest (Letters, August 2) seems to have seen the wrong information and joined the out-of-touch minority.
As for his comments on Ainsworth Street, which we consider to be part of our back yard, we find them a little galling to say the least, as we pay the rent and rates down here.
We are sure there is plenty of work to be done much closer to the Strawberry Bank area to keep Mr Prest busy.
RAYMOND GOLDSTONE, Blackburn Market Tenants' Association.
