NEW-born babies can now have a safe journey home from Burnley General Hospital, thanks to baby car seat loan scheme.
The project was launched in the Davidson Ward as part of the Burnley Health Care NHS Trust Healthy Hospitals project.
Co-ordinator Jacqui Waters said the scheme was now available for parents whose infants would otherwise be travelling home "unrestrained" in a car or taxi.
Baby car seats have been donated by Mothercare, Halfords and Argos.
Jacqui thanked the three companies for their generosity, and said recent television coverage had not only highlighted the need for a bay car seat but the importance of them being fitted correctly.
Through parent education at ante-natal classes, it was hoped to persuade parents to buy baby car seats.
The loan scheme is intended as a back-up service.
