DAVE Lewis of Rossendale, apparently recovered from the Achilles tendon problems which curtailed his Tameside bid, won the Weets Fell Race at Barnoldswick on Sunday.
Lewis logged 32:15 for the six miles to finish well clear of Bingley's Steve Hawkins. Roger Brewster of Clayton in fifth was the leading veteran and was first local while Vanessa Peacock of Clayton was top veteran lady.
Lewis won a mountain bike and Clayton's Steve White was the lucky winner of a second bike given as a spot prize by sponsors Hope Technology. Hope's representative at the race, former Three Peaks runner up Mark Horrocks is due to make his comeback this week after an absence of a year due to injury.
