ONLY two races were held on the open air stadium at Kirkby at Liverpool on Wednesday evening before rain washed out the programme once again.
However, Blackburn and District CTC riders were nevertheless scoring precious points with 14-year-old Richard Hek of Rishton winning the juvenile four lap race and Neil Reynolds was placed second in his B group event.
For almost 80 years the Bolton based Lancashire Road Club has promoted a 12 hour time trial on roads in the Fylde and the year 2000 version will be held this Sunday.
Starting at 6am on the A6 near Garstang the 27 entrants will start individually over the pre measured course to log up as many miles as possible before their time is up exactly 12 hours later.
There would be few takers of bets on any other but Gethin Butler of Preston Wheelers for overall honours. Butler is already holder of the course record of 287 miles and is reigning national champion for the half day ride with 297 miles.
On Sunday his objective must be to get as close to the 296 miles recently done in Yorkshire by arch rival Kevin Dawson in preparation for the British best all rounder contest and also hopefully to beat the magic 300 mile distance given good conditions.
Peter Haigh of the Nelson Wheelers Club is the only East Lancashire rider competing this year.
