LAST Wednesday evening, Bury Society Junior section fished the Hart Trophy on the Square Lodge at Tottington with a good turnout marred by heavy persistent rains.

Small fish, mainly roach featured in the leading weights from the banking wall in a close finish.

Scott Thompson took top weight 0-5-15 to win a John Wilson Reel, kindly donated by John Fletcher. In second place, Wain Grimshaw 0-5-4, third Ian Gough 0-2-12, fourth Ben Long 0-2-1, fifth was D. Crosswaite 0-1-6.

Unfortunately, Shaun Cartlidge fishing worn bait was smashed with a large fish possibly a tench during the match.

In the National Team Open, fished on the Island Lodge on Thursday evening fished by twelve.

Paul Robinson took top weight 9-6-8. In second place Steve Kenyon 7-3-2 and third J. Vernon 6-5-3.

On Sunday, Parkers was the venue for the August Cup fished on the wall side. The venue fished exceptionally well for small skimmer bream and the average weight per man being 5lb.

Keith Smith took top weight with 8-12-8 . In second place Dave Bradley included a quality bream plus jackpike 7-8-8 and John Fletcher third 6-1-4.

On Tuesday, Keith Turner pleasure fishing on Parkers on No five peg with 2lb bottom line and small hook, successfully landed a fine specimen tench of 4-14-0 after a 65 minute battle witnessed and photographed by Colin Howard.

In the Monday Pilsworth Open fished on the bottom ponds, Dave Jowett (jnr) Fisherman's Way had top weight 15-15-0. In second place Dave Jowett (snr) (Fisherman's Way) 14-13-0, third place Daz Shaw (Fisherman's Way) 12-13-0, fourth Jonathan Jowett (Sensas Garbolino) 10-5-0.

Also over the past weekend, Jonathan travelled to Cudmore to fish the Suez Canal and took fourth place with 45-4-0.

On Sunday, Scapa Porritt AC fished the Riley Trophy on Cliffe Reservoir at Stubbins with a full house. The club operate a points system of one point per fish, one point per ounce.

First, Anthony Thorpe 5-4-0 (198 points) 114 fish. Second, Arnold Waters 4-14-0 (182 points), third

Roger Griffiths 9-4-0 with two quality bream plus bits (170 points), fourth Geoff Palmer 3-7-0 (143 points, fifth Craig Westerman 3-11-0 (115 points).
