AS we drove into St Helens how my memory was stirred.
Home of the Glassmakers! It took me back over 40 years to when I worked in the city of York for a large plumbing and glazing company.
All those invoices with the feet and inches and s, 1/4s and 1/8ths. I still remember the decimals off by heart. This is my first visit to St Helens I have come especially to support the Marilyn Harry crusade in the huge marquee in Sutton Park, organised by St Helens Christian Life Centre. What a happy time with Marilyn the Welsh evangelist, the musicians and so many lovely people.
It is certainly worth coming coming from Halifax to St Helens. Perhaps I may meet some glassmakers.
