I WAS amazed to read the diatribe in Citizen letters from Chris Davies MEP.

I was always under the impression that MEPs were much too busy dashing to and fro and working out their travel and lodging expenses to find time to write to a local paper.

However, he probably has a relevant point for complaining that a significant minority of the electorate are a "bunch of nutters" for how else would we elect some of our MPs.

In what category would Mr Davies place the denizens of the European Court of Human Rights who have just awarded a homosexual £21,000 damages for taking part in and videoing a gay orgy. Doesn't Mr Davies think this a strange ruling by a "bunch of nutters" to use his own phraseology? Being a liberal he probably doesn't.

It would be a calming effect if Mr Davies reflects on the fact that the citizens of this country have not been allowed a vote on joining this circus so as yet he is living in a dream world and we unfortunately are living in the real world, where our laws are being overturned by Strasbourg and our own Parliament is made redundant.

Is this what Mr Davies means by strengthening our legal rights?
