POLICE are appealing to witnesses who saw a late-night baseball bat attack on a middle-aged man in Colne to come forward.
The 39-year-old victim, who has not been named by police, suffered a deep cut to his head and a broken wrist.
He was attacked as he walked passed the junction of Albert Road and Chapel Street, Colne, just after midnight on Friday night.
"He was approached by another man and struck on the head with a baseball ball," said PC Dave France, of Colne police. "He tried to get away but was followed by the offender who struck him again."
The victim was treated at Burnley General Hospital before being discharged. His attacker is a white male, in his late 20s, 5ft 10in tall, with short dark hair. He was wearing dark clothing.
