AS most of East Lancashire was coping with a water ban imposed by the scorching summer construction workers wasted gallons when they slices through a mains pipe.
Thousands of gallons were lost when a contractor's vehicle working on the M65 ploughed into the 16-inch main. Residents living near the burst in Bog Height Road, Darwen, were left with muddy tap water.
