A FESTIVAL of fun for all ages is promised as Accrington Lions enter the new millennium with a new format and venue for their famous carnival, which is expected to raise thousands of pounds for local charities.

The carnival, on June 16 next year, which the Lions hope will be the biggest and best, will include the mayor and mayoress of Hyndburn, the carnival queen, bands, majorettes and dancing groups, floats and many other colourful and interesting attractions.

A programme of events on the day will include a fun fair, indoor craft fair, charity stalls and commercial displays, and a programme of of entertainment and competitions.
