BLACKPOOL based West Coast Wasps came out top in a prestigious U12s roller hockey tournament held at the Newcastle Telewest Arena. Winning their games 9-0, 5-0, 3-0 and beating Cullercoates 2-1 in a thrilling final. Bobby Caunce and Harry Hall scoring for the Wasps. Three of the Wasps team Bobby Caunce, Andy Clark and Richard Bentham made it to the dream team selected from all the players by other team managers. Andy Clark was tournament top goalscorer.
The Wasps have won the North West League 2000 and secured a place at the national finals to be held later in the year. Winners of the nationals go on to play in Europe against other champions.
West Coast SHC is hosting a tournament at Stanley Park Sports Centre on Saturday and Sunday 10am-5pm both days with some of the top teams in the country attending.
