HAVE the owners of local shops gone crazy?
A-boards have appeared all over the place and are breeding at an alarming rate. They must be stopped before they take over all the footways and force people to walk in the roads, jousting with the fast moving traffic.
Large and small, thin or fat, they appear as if by magic on footways making disabled people, people pushing prams and people in wheelchairs veer in all directions to pass by.
In my own mind, if a shop's service is good there is no need to advertise as word of mouth is the best advertisement of all.
Myself, I try to avoid shopping in shops with these boards standing like sentinels on their doorsteps.
These shop keepers are contravening the law. Unfortunately the police and Wigan Council are lax in exterminating this growing army.
A few well aimed threats of prosecution shot into letter boxes would be a good start in clearing the battle ground.
What do other readers think? Shall we begin to name and shame these lawbreakers? I know quite a good few in Tyldesley who qualify.
