THE clatter of armour against chain mail, the sun gleaming on polished shields and sparks flying from clashing swords.
No, this is not a scene from the film Gladiators, but just one of the many attractions to be enjoyed at a fun day organised by the 4th Lytham St Annes Beaver and Cub Scout group recently, pictured.
The sword fight re-enactment was the climax to the medieval-themed event, which also included demonstrations in badge-making using traditional metal casting techniques, and a display of armour and weapons once used by knights and peasants. Cub Leader Adrian Warrel, helped by a historical re-enactment team, provided the medieval entertainment.
During the day, the Beavers and Cubs braved the heat for a sponsored run around the St Thomas' school field, raising over £300, to be spent on equipment for the group and repairs to the scout hut. There was also a barbecue.
The group has spaces for cubs, so if your child is between eight and ten and wants to join, call Tim George on (01253) 724186.
