HINDSFORD Sharks began the new football season exactly the same way they ended the old, by winning a competition.
Two months ago it was the Horwich tournament and now the new under 10s have added the De La Salle Trophy to their impressive collection.
But they didn't just win the cup, they steamrollered the opposition, and finished without losing a game or conceding a goal.
Jack Valentine led the way on the day with seven goals, including the winner in both the semi final and final. Further goals from Daniel Babilinski (3) and Greg Eaton (2), ensured that the attack was on top form.
Defensively Tony Lancashire, Anthony Wheatcroft and Matthew Liptrot never put a foot wrong, and on the rare occasions when they allowed the opposition through Joseph Smith in goal produced another excellent display of shot-stopping.
Joshua Newall, who ran the midfield for Hindsford, was voted the player of the tournament.
