Bury start the new season with a long trip to Cambridge, but look forward to the campaign with a great deal of confidence following a very encouraging pre season series of matches, and which has seen Manager Andy Preece's football revolution continue.
The long ball game of the previous management has gone and despite having no money at his disposal, Preece has introduced a host of young players and a much more attractive style of play.
And the Shakers young boss is confident that his squad can challenge for at least a play off spot saying " You'd expect Stoke, Wigan and Millwall with their resources to be the favourites, but we have no need to be afraid of anyone else and a play off place is well within our capabilities".
Five players have left the club since last season with only two joining and the squad is an attractively balanced unit of youth and experience. Local youngster Jason Jarret is widely expected to make his debut on the right side of midfield after some outstanding performances. Matty Barrass and Lutel James are out through illness and injury. squad; Kenny; Unsworth, Collins, C Swailes, Barrick; Jarrett, Daws, Littlejohn, Reid: Preece, Crowe, Billy, Bhutia, Forrest, Redmond, D Swailes, Bullock, Barnes
