IN the letters column in The Citizen (27/07/00) Beverley Moy sought to remind me of what she saw as my "duty" to bring charges against Councillor Ivan Taylor for allegations relating to declaration of interests.
I am fully aware of my responsibilities in such matters but Mrs Moy may be interested to learn that there is no "duty" on a local authority chief executive to bring charges in such cases. Bringing charges is a matter for the police and prosecution services.
Your readers need to be aware that on no occasion has Mrs Moy approached me and asked whether I have fulfilled this "duty", so naturally I was surprised to read her letter.
G.E. Essex-Crosby,
Chief Executive,
Blackpool Borough Council.
