WITH only a few weeks of the St Helens Rounders League season left, Windle and Pilkington Spartans are fighting it out for the Division One title.
The two also meet in the Emily Collins Cup final, and with both securing good wins this week, it looks promising for an exciting showdown.
Spartans took the points from Haydock, and Windle beat Burtonwood.
The week improved for Haydock who then went on to defeat Haresfinch. It has been a good season for Haydock, whose combination of youth and experience has enabled them to achieve a high league position as well as still being in the running for a place in the Stanley Jones Cup.
Although TNT lost to Spartans, they were more successful against Grasshoppers. Despite the weather, TNT batted well with Grasshoppers fielding a player down, they were able to secure numerous half-rounders, despite a good performance by stand-in backstop Elaine Roberts, and Grasshoppers bowler Lynn Davies who played with a broken finger.
RESULTS
Pilks Spartans 15 TNT 4, Haresfinch 9 Haydock 15, Burtonwood 6 Windle 14, Pilks Spartans 13 Haydock 6.
