MY husband and I have only resided in the area for 18 months but we must agree wholeheartedly with the views expressed in The Citizen (August 3) and would certainly not bring younger children to Blackpool especially at weekends.
Blackpool has to decide the sort of place it wishes to be. It will not attract a different type of visitor while it provides shops selling all manner of vulgar articles, shows on the piers with artists known for their lewd comedy, etc.
I do not think the residents of the town want this image, nor do they want their town full of people who have come to behave like louts (both men and women) in the name of having a good time.
One thing which is certainly necessary is a much larger police presence on the promenade, walking so as to be seen and with powers to act against bad behaviour.
Blackpool will get what it caters for, so the answer surely is "clean up your act" if you want a different class of visitor.
