I'M disappointed that car users have not backed the Dump the Pumps campaign.

The planned day of action last Tuesday saw little support from local motorists.

And though the campaign is planned to go on every Monday, there were queues at the pumps again this week.

What's the matter with people?

Someone has bothered to try to get the message through to the government that we won't put up with our fuel taxes being too high and what happens? Not a lot.

Are people around here so defeatest that they think they can't make a difference, or are they just too lazy to bother?

To ask for one day's support is not asking for much.

You can bet the people of France would have heeded the call.

Upset people don't do things by halves there.

One hundred and fifty textile workers in a north west town recently occupied their building, but because their action wasn't getting through, wildlife lovers that they are, they polluted a nearby stream with sulphuric acid!

Then, after they threatened to blow up the building, came a breakthrough.

They are now considering an offerof two years pay and a cash bonus of £7,500!

I don't want to give our striking bus drivers any ideas, but our neighbours across the channel certainly don't faff about when they want better treatment.

And we shouldn't either.
