A CRICKETER was certainly not stumped for ideas to raise funds for his club -- he got on his bike.
During epic fund-raising ride -- on July 8 and 9 -- Accrington third team player Mark Croasdale visited all 14 cricket grounds in the Lancashire league, starting and finishing at his own.
"We have done sponsored walks and barbecues in the past but we wanted a change," said Mark, 37, of Nutter Road, Accrington. "It was very tiring in parts especially going over the tops from Bacup to Todmorden because it was all uphill." He split the challenge over two days and his efforts raised £375 which will go to the club and Macmillan Nurses.
A presentation and disco on Saturday night at the Thorney Holme Road club realised more cash with a "Guess the Mileage" game of Mark's journey.
In total £500 was raised, £100 of which went to the Macmillan Nurses. The number of miles Mark covered was 82.
