BOLTON boss Sam Allardyce admitted his side couldn't deal with Glen Little and was happy to finish with a point from Saturday's 1-1 draw at the Reebok Stadium.
"Glen Little coming on was the turning point for them. We didn't cope for 15 or 20 minutes and that's what got them back in the game.
"We switched off for a quick throw-in for their goal and I think overall a draw was a fair result," said Allardyce.
Bolton started with just three of the players who faced Ipswich in their play-off semi-final second leg in May and Allardyce felt that was a factor as Burnley hit back through a Phil Gray goal.
He added: "The first half we played reasonably well considering we've not been together for so long but the second half was a different story for us.
"We lost the first 20 minutes. We didn't cope, went on the back foot and didn't get going at all and that was a little disappointing.
"I suppose you have to say it can be difficult when players who haven't played with each other very much are thrown into the fray.
"And I think that showed tactically, from our point of view, in the second half.
"I don't think we coped with what Burnley were doing and tried to get ourselves in the game. Consequently we lost our shape a little bit and certainly lost our passing.
"After that we had a couple of chances near the end and might have nicked it but we didn't.
"If we had done that it would have been three great points in the circumstances and we would have been on the way but one's not too bad."
