MORE than 70 football teams from the Blackburn area took part in this year's Orphanage Cup contest, raising £5,000 for charity.
The event, won by an Accrington Fire Station team which beat Royal Mail, Blackburn, raised £4,000 for the Blackburn Child Care Society. A golf day raised a further £1,000.
The Orphanage Cup, featuring teams from Blackburn, Darwen and Accrington, began in 1950 to raise funds for the then Blackburn Orphanage.
