A WOMAN who wants to create a house near a golf course has been told she must provide nets to protect it from flying golf balls.
Ribble Valley Borough Council approved Dorothy Kania's application to turn a two-storey structure in Whalley Road, Wilpshire into a house near Wilpshire Golf Club's 18th hole.
But Wilpshire Parish Council raised concerns that the house would be too close to the course.
Coun Chris Holtom said: "There should be some protective netting, we should put the onus on the applicant."
But Coun Frank Dyson said that armoured glass should be used in the windows facing the golf course and added that a net would be unsightly.
Coun John Hill added that if the windows were open, a ball could fly through and injure someone.
