LOCAL interest in the British Boys Open Championship at Hillside, Southport came to an end at the third round stage yesterday.
The Burnley pair of Ben Scott and Andrew Keenan had both won their two opening matches to reach the last 64, where they joined Shaw Hill's England interntional Nick Dougherty.
But for each it proved a game too far as Keenan went down 3 & 1, Scott 3 & 2 and Dougherty saw his last chance to win the title disappear with defeat on the 17th green to Spain's Ignacio Sanchez.
Earlier in the week, Rossendale's Andrew Siddle bowed out in round one with a one-hole defeat.
