OLYMPIC swimmer Sharron Davies was in Bury on Saturday (Aug 12) to open a new fitness centre.
And for once she was not on the receiving end when the medals were handed out... because it was her that was doing the presenting!
Youngsters using the pool at the Chapel Street fitness centre took part in a number of fun competitions which Sharron oversaw.
"She told me my son, Aaron, who's a member of Radcliffe Swimming Club, has a perfect build for swimming," said a proud Mrs Helen Greenhalgh of Britain Street, Bury.
Sharron, pictured handing out medals to the youngsters, remained on dry land.
"I don't swim anymore. After doing it six hours a day for 20 years it would be too much of a busman's holiday," she laughed.
