WITNESSES are being sought to help find a motorcyclist who was riding a stolen machine which crashed and burst into flames on a Bury road.
A helmet and leather gloves were discarded by the rider who collided with a Peugoet 406 on Wash Lane at 11.50am on Tuesday (Aug 15).
The biker, who is believed to have stolen the Honda 650cc from Middleton on August 3, was seen limping away from the scene of the crash. A search of the area for the biker by police proved fruitless.
The driver of the Peugoet, Mr Joseph Tishler (56) from Prestwich, was treated for shock at the scene but he declined hospital treatment.
Bury fire fighters were called to extinguish the burning bike.
Anyone who saw the accident or knows the whereabouts of the rider should contact Bury Traffic Unit on 0161 856 8072.
