BLACKBURN Rovers new-boy Craig Hignett would relish the prospect of succeeding Dario Gradi when he finally decides to step down as manager of Crewe.
Hignett has a lot of admiration for Gradi after he gave him his big break at Gresty Road during the early 90s.
And the opportunity to take over the reigns
"I can't speak highly enough of Dario after everything he has done for me and the way he made me look at the game," said Hignett.
"The fact he has been there for nearly 20 years now speaks volumes for the job he has for them.
"Not only has he improved their league position in his time there, he has also made them enough money to improve their facilities.
"It's now a very well run club and I've got a lot of time for everyone there.
"And who knows, maybe when I finish as a player, I could go back as manager one day with Dario watching over me!"
An Achilles injury will keep Hignett out of an emotional return tomorrow.
But, though he is disappointed at not making the trip, he believes Rovers will have enough about them to prevail.
"I always enjoy playing Crewe, because it's a special place for me, so it's disappointing," said Hignett.
"But the lads will go there full of confidence and I think we can build on our impressive start."
