WITH Blackpool Mechanics tomorrow's visitors to Daisy Hill, managers Brian Richardson and Brian Smith are under no illusions about the difficulty of the task ahead for their young side.
Smith says: "Blackpool are favourites for the Division Two title and have a lot of ex-Fleetwood Freeport players in their squad. Their manager Brian Wilson and I were ex-colleagues at Blackpool many seasons ago and I know he has a strong side.
"Nevertheless we will be hoping for a positive start and with our overall strength improved from last season, we are capable of getting off to a winning start."
This week Daisy Hill made two quality signings with the capture of John Keary from Leigh RMI and Adam Entwistle from Radcliffe Borough.
"Both players are vastly experienced at UniBond level and their capture will make people sit up and take notice that we mean business," Smith adds.
Manager Richardson adds: "We have come out of some stiff pre-season friendlies against Fleetwood, Chorley and Bolton Wanderers Academy in an optimistic mood and have no reason to fear any team in our division."
Daisy Hill continue their league programme with another home game on Tuesday when Tetley Walker are the visitors and will be looking to win both games.
