ATHERTON CC won't lack big time experience when they walk out to meet Adlington in Sunday's Bolton Association Cross Cup final at Walshaw.
Skipper Steve Walsh will be taking part in his eighth final who professional Andy Hall has made it to this stage on four occasions.
And the rest of the team won't be that far behind either. This will be the third year in succession that Atherton have reached the Association's glamour final. Although they were pipped by four runs by Little Hulton last season, the Higham Park side did lift the trophy in 1998, beating Darcy Lever.
Sunday's game against Adlington is a repeat of the 1965 final when Atherton were victorious. At that time current Atherton president, Colin Hilton, was the club's professional.
A spokesman said: "The path to the final this year has not been an easy one.
"We have had to contend with two deputy professionals from the Bolton League -- Paul Rayment from Bradshaw and Saeed Anwar jnr from Greenmount."
The Atherton squad is: Steve Walsh (capt), Greg Greenough, Paul Brown, Philip West, Philip Wakefield, David Charlson, Ian Nuttall, Jonathan Fearick, Philip Williamson, Jonathan Harrop, Paul Walsh and Andy Hall.
The team is sponsored by Stephenson's Solicitors of Leigh and Bolton.
The game begins at 1.30pm. Admission is £1.50 and £1 concessions.
