WALSHAW under 11s have had a tremendous season winning the Bolton and District League Championship after being unbeatable all summer.
And six of the team can boast that they are true all rounders ... because when they're not playing cricket, they play football for the Walshaw Sports Club under 11s soccer team who won the North Bury title earlier this year.
The cricket team needed to win their final match against rivals Elton last week to take the title. It was a thrilling contest with Walshaw's total of 256 proving just too much for Elton who could only reach 245 in reply.
Top scorer with the bat for Walshaw was Jonathan Hazeldine, while J Moore bowled well for Elton and took two wickets.
Walshaw's wicket-taking bowlers were Ryan Wallwork, Matthew Thomas, Tim Greenhalgh and, to cap a splendid all round display, Jonathan Hazeldine. M Parkinson top scored for Elton.
Walshaw were crowned champions after winning all 13 league matches and the celebrations have been going on ever since. However, the talented lads, captained by Richard Watt, didn't quite manage the double after losing in the semi-finals of the cup.
