MAYOR of St Helens, Councillor Pat Robinson is seeking sponsorship from local firms to support the annual golf tournament which raises funds for charity.
This year's event, at Sherdley Park Golf Course on Saturday, September 2, will benefit the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation.
Over the past 11 years, with the help of sponsors, more than £40,000 has been raised for various charities and the tournament has become firmly established in the sporting calendar attracting entries from around the North West.
Councillor Robinson said: "We are once again deeply indebted to Sherdley Park Golf Club for organising this wonderful event. I sincerely hope everyone who is taking part in the tournament will have a thoroughly enjoyable day and that the event will be as successful as ever."
Anyone interested in sponsoring a hole at a cost of £125 should contact David Heyes on 01744 456065 or Christine Cox on 01744 456107. Each sponsor will then receive two free entries to the competition, advertising on the tee and around the clubhouse and a complimentary meal for their competitors. There is also a special prize for the best card recorded by a sponsor.
