LEIGH Citizens Advice Bureau's only Millennium Project volunteer, Angela Yates, has won a top award.
The 19-year-old mum followed in the footsteps of her mother, Carol, to become an adviser at The Avenue bureau.
Since joining in March she has attained a certificate for 100 hours service and is due to receive the Award of Excellence for completing 200 hours.
Angela felt the opportunity of working at the office would give her the chance to get back into work after having her baby.
She is now staying on and advancing towards an NVQ level 3 in advice.
Carolyn Siddall, training officer at the Bureau which has 14 paid staff and 30 volunteers, said: "Angela knew all about the service because her mum had worked here as an adviser for two years before leaving to get a full-time job.
"Angela has worked well and learned a lot in such a short time. She is well on her way to gaining qualifications which should take her into employment."
Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer should contact Carolyn on 01942-708121.
