IMPROVING Edenfield are planning to put a spanner in the works for Jennings Ribblesdale League title favourites Ribblesdale Wanderers -- spearheaded by in-form professional Steven Kirby.
The 22-year-old former Leicestershire seamer has taken a glut of wickets in recent weeks as Edenfield have hauled themselves away from the foot of the table.
The Gincroft Lane club have defeated Cherry Tree and also beaten second-placed Great Harwood and are looking to make it a notable hat-trick against the league leaders tomorrow.
"Hopefully we can turn them over as well and make things a bit more interesting at the top of the table. If results go right elsewhere we might be able to do some others a favour and we will certainly be doing our best," said skipper Chris Hanson, who took charge nine games ago after John Kershaw's retirement.
As well as Kirby's input and bowling support from Billy Slinger and Brett Storey, runs have come from Michael Hawke, Peter Holt and 17-year-old opener James Kelly, who recently took a half-century off the Cherry Tree attack.
And despite a tough run-in, club stalwart Hanson is hoping that a top-half finish could be Edenfield's reward.
OTHER GAMES: Baxenden v Read, Blackburn Northern v Barnoldswick, Cherry Tree v Padiham, Earby v Whalley, Edenfield v Ribblesdale Wanderers, Great Harwood v Clitheroe, Oswaldtwistle I v Settle.
