A WEAKENED St Helens travelled to Maghull on Saturday. Their woe continued as Maghull compiled 150-3 before the rain intervened. Maghull declared on this total and when rain finally put paid to matters St Helens had scored 15-2.
The Second XI's run of good results ended with a bang at Windleshaw Road. After electing to bat on a good wicket they where blown away reaching a miserly 54 all out, only Ste Fell reaching double figures.
By 4-15pm the game was over Maghull winning by nine wickets.
On Sunday St Helens Third team played host to Southport who after winning the toss elected to bat first. They reached 153 before being bowled out. Encouraging for St Helens was the performance with the ball of young Luke Booth who finished with 6-44 from 18 overs. Powson and Valentine managed two wickets apiece. However after tea and during heavy rain St Helens were dismissed for 63 only Gareth Griffiths (18) reaching double figures.
